Le monde des applications pour mobile est décidément un terrain de chasse très prisés des pirates en tout genre. Ainsi, quelques semaines seulement après la découverte de 56 applis infectées (voir notre article). CyberNews a mis à jour un réseau de 27 développeurs Android aux pratiques particulièrement pernicieuses.
Comme ils l’expliquent sur leur site, les experts de cette société de cybersécurité ont repéré que ces hackers signaient systématiquement leurs produits de deux noms occidentaux parfaitement ordinaires (Alex Joe, Daniel Malley, etc.), que toutes leurs politiques de confidentialité étaient strictement identiques et qu’elles renvoyaient vers des sites Web avaient la même structure d’URL. Des indices qui ont attiré leur attention en les incitant à fouiller.
Ce réseau aurait ainsi proposé quelque 101 applications Android douteuses (voir liste complète ci-dessous) qui demanderaient d’emblée des permissions abusives, allant bien au-delà de leur fonction de base (accès aux contacts, aux photos, etc.). Mieux encore, ces applis ne sont que des clones d’applications tierces – et tout à fait normales – infectées par du code malveillant destiné à effectuer deux types d’actions : afficher une kyrielle de publicités et, surtout, voler des données personnelles, grâce aux autorisations abusives.
Et la combine a visiblement très bien fonctionné puisque ces applications, qui auraient déjà installées sur près de 70 millions d’appareils Android à travers le monde, aurait permis à leurs auteurs d’engranger plusieurs dizaines de milliers de dollars par mois. Les pirates qui n’ont pas été formellement identifiés seraient selon toute vraisemblance installés au Vietnam ou en Chine. Quoi qu’il ne soit, il est indispensable de supprimer d’urgence ces applications de votre appareil Android si vous les avez téléchargées…
